Don’t Feel Adequate to Serve?

After serving actively for more than 10 years, I realize, there were ups and downs, there were victories and there were seasons of grief and disappointments. There’s no perfect church, there’s no perfect job, family, friends and the list goes on and on. We are all pretty messed up people.

But through this mess, God still loves us, He embraces us, cherish us, uses us in His plans, refuses to give up on us. Just as God used this list of imperfect and untrained people of the Bible, they became heroes for Jesus and God wants to use us the same way. They were in the plan of God just like you are in the plan of God.

If you ever feel inadequate to serve God, know that:

  1. You’ve joined the crowd of messed up people in the Bible, who made history for Jesus
  2. God will never give up on you just like He’s promised you (Rom 11:29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable)
  3. Just because God didn’t give up on you, don’t give up on yourself. He believes in you wholeheartedly

I realize that THROUGH IT ALL, Jesus is always here walking alongside our journey. Enjoy His presence as you walk through life, no matter what season you are in. Be a hero for Jesus and continue to serve Him each day!

It’s so true that serving God is so rewarding. I’ve also been serving for a number of years and even some of the “embarrassing” things I did serving God turned out to profit me years down the road. My confidence went up, my skill set went up, my experience went up. There are just somethings you would never so freely get exposed to if you never were actively serving God in a church and I thank God I seldom backed down from opportunities to try new things.

I didn’t have much when I started, but now I feel so much more valuable after all I’ve gone through.
